DROUGHT CONTINGENCY PLAN UPDATE OCTOBER 21, 2024

DROUGHT CONTINGENCY PLAN UPDATE OCTOBER 21, 2024

The Board of Public Works is diligent in its efforts to provide quality service to their customers. Drought conditions have left some communities with shallow wells. This put everyone in a
position to be proactive in conservation efforts and to help mitigate a crisis situation.

Tips to conserve water:
Grey water is water saved from doing dishes, washing hands etc.

Run a dishwasher or washing machine only when full
Communities outside of Auburn and Peru are not in an emergency status. If you need to
wash your car, please use services outside of this area.

Grey water suggestions (recycled water)
Plug showers and sinks when showering or washing hands. Use for watering plants.
Cooking water may be used for watering plants.

Data will be provided with daily readings on the number of gallons pumped, pumping times and reservoir levels. This will keep the public informed of current conditions. See the City of Auburn
website at https://auburn.ne.gov for updates.

Data shows a decrease in usage in the last 24 hours. Static well levels continue to drop. Four wells are dangerously low. Loss of these wells will most certainly cause a situation where trucking water from outside resources will be needed to support the needs of Auburn and Peru communities.
Please report misuse of water to the Board of Public Works.
