Cost: $45 per participant (plus optional USATF Membership)
USATF Membership Information:
Parents are responsible for purchasing their athletes’ USATF memberships at www.usatf.org. When registering, select the club affiliation: “Bulldog Track Pack (NE-29-10411).” This membership, which costs approximately $35, provides insurance coverage during the meets and is required to participate in the USATF-sanctioned events.
Auburn City Recreation will generously cover the cost of participation for two away meets and one home meet this season. For any additional meets beyond these, families will be responsible for the entry fees, which are typically around $5 per event. We will provide more detailed information on those costs as the season progresses.
Our home meet and the USATF sanctioned meets will have a full schedule of track events, where the local meet will offer a limited selection of events. If you choose not to participate in the USATF meets or have not completed the USATF membership, your child can still compete in the local and home meet without the membership. However, an active membership is required to participate in the USATF meets.
For families with younger athletes (ages 5 or 6), please note they will compete in the 8 and under age group at both the local and USATF meets, meaning they may race against children up to 8 years old. Our home meet will have a separate 5-6 year old age group. Some families may choose not to purchase the USATF membership for their younger athletes based on this.
Practice & Meet Schedule: The coaches will schedule practices starting in the middle of April. Practices will be held in the evenings a few times per week in April and May, and track meets will take place on Saturdays. We will have a home track meet, a nearby track meet, and USATF-Sanctioned meets.
Equipment: Uniform tops will be included and must be returned at the end of the season. Each participant will need to have a black pair of shorts to wear with the uniform top. Spike cleats are recommended, especially for those participating in USATF-sanctioned meets, as they can enhance performance on the track. Spike cleats for USATF-sanctioned meets must have spikes no longer than 1/4 inch in length, in accordance with USATF regulations.
Coaches: If you are interested in coaching, please indicate by checking the box on your child’s registration. Once the registration is closed, the coaches meeting will take place in April.
Parents: Once the coaches’ meeting takes place, you will be contacted with more information about the schedule. Please contact a commissioner if you have not been contacted by April 10th.
Commissioners: Contact a commissioner for questions or further information.
