Auburn BWP Moves to Stage Two Water Warning

Auburn BWP Moves to Stage Two Water Warning

After closely monitoring water levels of our wells, the Auburn Board of Public Works made the decision to move out of the State 3 Water Emergency and into the Stage 2 Water Warning effective today, July 31st with eight of the ten wells rebounding following recent rainfall.

Auburn Mayor Chris Erickson is thankful for the support and patience of customers in Auburn and Peru as they have sacrificed to conserve water for our communities.  He also appreciates the Auburn Board of Public Works employees and board members who have worked diligently to monitor the situation and assist customers through these challenges.

Customers are asked to follow the Stage 2 Water Warning protocols listed below and remain informed of further developments.

  • An odd/even lawn watering system will be imposed on BPW water customers. Residents with odd-numbered addresses will be asked to water on odd days; residents with even addresses will be asked to water on even days.
  • Outdoor water use, including lawn watering and car washing will be restricted to before 10 am and after 9 pm.
  • Refilling of swimming pools will be allowed one day a week after sunset.
  • Excess water use charges for usage of water over the amount used in the winter will be imposed.
  • Wells used for irrigation within the City Well Head Protection Area will have their usage monitored.
  • Waste of water will be prohibited.
  • The splashpad will remain closed.
