DROUGHT CONTINGENCY PLAN UPDATE OCTOBER 18, 2024

DROUGHT CONTINGENCY PLAN UPDATE – OCTOBER 18, 2024
The Board of Public Works is diligent in its efforts to provide quality service to their customers. Drought conditions have left some communities with shallow wells. This put everyone in a position to be proactive in conservation efforts and to help mitigate a crisis situation.

Tips to conserve water:

•Turn off water while preparing food.
•Turn off water while brushing teeth, shaving, or washing hands.
•Watch for leaking faucets and toilets and repair. One leaking toilet can use as much as 200 – 4,000 gallons of water in a 24-hour period.
•Place water softener on bypass mode.
•Reduce shower time.

Data will be provided with daily readings on the number of gallons pumped, pumping times and reservoir levels. This will keep the public informed of current conditions. See the City of Auburn website at https://auburn.ne.gov for updates.

Data shows an increase in usage in the last 24 hours. If you notice excessive water use by neighbors, they may be unaware of the current drought situation. You can notify the Board of Public Works, and we can send someone to provide them information on the current protocol.

Thank you for your continued support.
