DROUGHT CONTINGENCY PLAN UPDATE OCTOBER 22, 2024
The Board of Public Works is grateful for the much need rain that we received. While it will not affect the well levels, it knocked down the dust. We continue to ask community members to be proactive in conservation efforts.
Tips to conserve water:
• Use a low flow shower head and faucet aerators
• Install a dual flush or low flow toilet or put a conversion kit on your existing toilet.
• Install a water barrel to catch rainwater for outdoor watering.
We continue to provide data with daily readings on the number of gallons pumped, pumping times and reservoir levels. This will keep the public informed of current conditions. See the City of Auburn website at https://auburn.ne.gov for updates.
Data shows another decrease in usage in the last 24 hours. We appreciate the combined effort of the community to keep usage at lower levels. Pumping well levels remained stable in the last 24 hours. Four wells are still dangerously low. Loss of these wells will most certainly cause a situation where trucking water from outside resources will be needed to support the needs of Auburn and Peru communities.
Please report misuse of water to the Board of Public Works.
