Announcements

Practices are held at the middle school wrestling room.

Accepting Boys and Girls 4 years old (as of July 31st) – 6th Grade.

Anyone who would like to donate their outgrown wrestling shoes we will gladly take those!

Welcome to this year’s Auburn City Rec youth wrestling program.

All wrestlers must pay a $50 sign-up fee. Parents are responsible for purchasing their wrestlers’ USA cards at www.usawmembership.com. This card covers wrestlers during practices and several tournaments and is required to register for the District and State Tournaments.

Please make sure we have your correct email address and have downloaded the TeamSnap app, as this is how we will communicate throughout the season.

A parent’s meeting will be posted on TeamSnap- so please check there for the meeting.

We will be starting practice in early November; again, check TEAMSNAP. In the past, we have practiced Pre-K from 6 pm-6:45 pm one to two days a week and 1st -6th grades from 6:45 pm-8 pm two to three days a week, subject to change.

Tournament information will be posted in the TeamSnap app. It is up to the PARENT/GUARDIAN to get on the Trackwrestling website, complete and pay for the registration that their child is participating in. Transportation to tournaments is also up to the parents. Coaches may or may only be available for some tournaments you want to enter. Going to tournaments is not mandatory, but encouraged. If your child is comfortable with wrestling, we recommend going to as many tournaments as possible, if not, stick with the practices until you both feel more comfortable going to more.

All available tournaments can be found on Trackwrestling.com. We will also do a dual meet registration for the dual through Google Forms.

Tournaments will be on Saturdays or Sundays from December through March. Please try to have your child attend every practice. If your child is involved in other sports that conflict with wrestling practice, we understand you may have to compromise. Other wrestlers are counting on them to be there as a partner.

Parents who want to help their child may do so, and we encourage it. It takes a long time for one or two coaches to go around to each set of wrestlers. Anyone can help by watching the coaches show the move and helping their child, and others learn it. So, if you are sitting and watching practice, you are going to be asked to help! So, if you are unwilling to help, you will be asked to leave the wrestling room.

We recommend wrestlers wear shorts and a T-shirt to practice in. Wrestling shoes are highly recommended, no street shoes will be allowed on the mats. If you need wrestling shoes, ACR has some wrestling shoes. Bring a water bottle to every practice.

If school is canceled or dismissed early due to inclement weather, there will be NO practice!!

The continued use of the facilities is up to all of us, we must not abuse our privileges, and we need everyone’s cooperation in making sure we leave a good impression. Please thank school officials for allowing us the use of facilities. We look forward to having a fun / learning year for our youth wrestlers, they are the future of our High School Wrestling Team!! Thanks for your interest and participation in the Auburn City Rec Youth Wrestling program.

Things to know and rules to follow:

1. Wrestling shoes should ONLY be worn inside the wrestling room, so PLEASE do not have your wrestler wear them outside. If they do not have wrestling shoes, please ask the coaches; we have a box.

2. Your wrestler should shower as soon as they return home from practice and wash with an antibacterial soap (Defense Plus).

3. Please arrive 10 minutes before practice to help your child get their shoes on, and we can start on time.

4. Wrestlers should use the restroom before practice begins

5. Wrestlers should also bring their OWN water bottles.

6. Wrestlers should come prepared to listen and work hard every practice. They will only get out what they put in.

7. No horse playing in the wrestling room, hallways, and RESTROOMS.

8. CLEAN UP after yourself. Make sure your wrestler has all their belongings before they leave the wrestling room.

9. Please walk your wrestler into the school and make sure a coach is there before you leave. Then, come inside to pick them up.
