Announcements

Practices are held at the middle school wrestling room.

Accepting Boys and Girls 4 years old (as of July 31st) – 6th Grade.

Anyone who would like to donate their outgrown wrestling shoes we will gladly take those!

Welcome to this year’s Auburn City Rec youth wrestling program. A $50 sign up fee is required for all wrestlers. City Rec will provide USA cards only for the wrestlers, this covers wrestlers and coaches during practices as well as tournaments and is required to enter the State Tournament. Please make sure we have your correct email address and have downloaded the TeamSnap app, as this is how we will be communicating over the course of the season.

A parents meeting will be posted on TeamSnap- so please check there for the meeting. We will be starting practice on Monday, November 27th.

In the past we have practiced Pre-k will be from 6pm-6:45pm one day a week, and 1st -6th grades will be from 6:45pm-8pm two to three days a week, subject to change. Wresting practices will be posted in TeamSnap.
Upcoming tournament information will be posted or emailed to you through TeamSnap app. It is up to the PARENT/GUARDIAN to get on Trackwrestling website, complete and pay for the registration that their child is participating in. Transportation to tournaments is also up to the parents. Coaches may or may not be available for every tournament you want to enter. Going to tournaments is not mandatory, but encouraged. If your child is comfortable with wrestling, we recommend going to as many tournaments as possible, if not, stick with the practices until you both feel more comfortable going to more. All tournaments can be found on Trackwrestling.com. Tournaments will be on Saturdays or Sundays from December through March.

Please try to have your child attend every practice. If your child is involved in other sports that conflict with wrestling practice, we understand you may have to compromise. Other wrestlers are counting on them to be there as a partner. It also slows the others down having to learn the moves that have already been covered. Parents who want to help, hands on, with their child may do so, and we encourage it. It takes a long time for one or two coaches to go around to each set of wrestlers, anyone can help by watching the coaches show the move and then helping your child and others learn the move. We recommend wrestlers wear shorts and a t-shirt to practice in. Wrestling shoes are highly recommended, no street shoes will be allowed on the mats. Bring a water bottle.

If school is cancelled or dismissed early due to inclement weather, there will be NO practice!!The continued use of the facilities is up to all of us, we must not abuse our privileges, and we need everyone’s cooperation in making sure we leave a good impression. Please thank school officials for allowing us the use of facilities.

We look forward to having a fun / learning year for our youth wrestlers, they are the future of our High School Wrestling Team!! Thanks for your interest and participation in Auburn City Rec Youth Wrestling program.
